Coventry NIHL Blaze are delighted to confirm that defenceman Reuben Sweenie-Fuller will return to the club for the 2026/27 season.
The young defenceman will continue his development in Coventry colours after establishing himself as an exciting part of the Blaze defensive group during the 2025/26 campaign.
At just 20 years old, Sweenie-Fuller has already gained valuable senior experience and represents the next generation of Blaze players progressing through the organisation. Elite Prospects records the defenceman with 142 career appearances, 17 goals and 28 assists for 45 points, highlighting his development and ability to contribute from the blue line.
Since joining the Blaze setup, Reuben has continued to grow into his role as a reliable two-way defenceman. During the 2025/26 NIHL 2 regular season, he featured in 18 games, registering four assists, while also adding further offensive contribution during cup competition with three assists in the NIHL 2 Laidler Cup.
One of the standout moments of his 2025/26 campaign came during the Laidler Cup, where Sweenie-Fuller contributed offensively from the back end, recording a goal and an assist across the competition.
A product of the British hockey system, Reuben has quickly become another example of the Blaze’s commitment to developing young talent while competing at senior level. His progression alongside more experienced defencemen has allowed him to continue learning and improving his game.
His return adds further depth and competition to a Blaze defensive group that combines experience and youth, with players such as Joel Gavigan, Daniel Upton, Daniel Retter, Gregor Park and Jack McKay also providing stability on the blue line.
With another season ahead, Sweenie-Fuller will be looking to take the next step in his development and continue making an impact as Coventry aim to challenge for silverware in 2026/27.
Welcome back, Reuben!
