Regular Season Comes To An End
The 25/26 season has come to an end, here is a look back on the season... so far.
Another regular season has come to an end and what a rollercoaster it has been, once again. 31 games played across three competitions with one more between now and the start of the playoff campaign.
Let's look back on the season, so far.
We go all the way back to August of 2025 where we kick started our season at home in a pre-season fixture against the MK Thunder of the south. We would travel for the reverse fixture to round out pre-season a week later with both teams taking home wins.
The NIHL2 North League Regular Season was kicked off on Saturday 13th September with the visit of the Sheffield Titans followed by our first (of many) away trips to Billingham on the Sunday. We would once again win one and lose one to pick up three points in the HockeyHound Challenge Cup in the first weekend.
We would then string together our longest winning streak of the season off the back of the win against the Buccaneers with a further six more wins to take the total to seven straight. With wins over Altrincham, Nottingham, Deeside, Bradford and a further two wins over the Buccaneers, picking up 19 from a possible 21 points in that span.
Over the next six games into the start of December we would go blow for blow with three wins and three losses leading us into the start of December. Before picking up four straight wins before we entered the League Cup Semi-Finals against who else, but the Billingham Buccaneers.
We would open up the semi-final with the home leg on the Saturday and with a come from behind victory on the night, we would take a one goal lead into the Billingham Forum on the Sunday. But with our first lost to the Buccs all season, it would bow us out of the competition, 4-6 on aggregate.
We would round out January with a 7-0 win over the struggling Bulldogs to give us vital league points.
February would be our worst month of fixtures, losing 75% of the games in the month with only one win which would be a blowout 15-2 win over Nottingham. But losses to Sutton, Deeside and Billingham would see our top 3 hopes start to drift.
But, with three wins in our last four games we would just edge the competition for third spot over the Buccaneers by two points, sealing our join highest league finish since the team began. We would finish on 47 points from 24 games and would confirm a Playoff Quarter-Final matchup against the Deeside Dragons.
More details on our home fixture in this tie, will be released soon.
