Coventry NIHL Blaze hit the road this weekend as they face the Billingham Buccaneers in their second competitive fixture of the 2026/27 season.

The NIHL Blaze head into Saturday's clash full of confidence after opening their league campaign with a 4-2 victory over Bradford Bulldogs at the Skydome. Goals from Ethan Wheeldon, Brodey Butlin, Oliver Dixon and Liam Bartholomew secured all three points for Coventry in an impressive start to the new campaign.

Billingham, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back after beginning their season with a 3-0 defeat to Sutton Sting. The Buccaneers will have home advantage at the Billingham Forum, where Coventry will face their first away test of the season.

Last season, the Buccaneers and the NIHL Blaze faced off seven times across the season. With five of the matches being won by the NIHL Blaze and the other two being taken by the Buccs. With the last two matches in Billingham being won by the home team, the NIHL Blaze look to break the streak this weekend.

The NIHL Blaze will be hoping to build on last weekend's performance and continue their strong start, with another three points up for grabs in what is also listed as a League/Cup fixture.

With the first competitive away game of the season ahead, Coventry will be looking to bring the same intensity, discipline and attacking threat that saw them overcome Bradford and return home with another positive result.
