We take our first loss of the season in a narrow one-nil defeat to the Sting

Both ourselves and the Sting looked to continue the unbeaten runs we had formed over the first month of the season as we clashed in a huge September League Fixture at the Skydome.
Laverick would get the start in goal for the NIHL Blaze with King getting the start in goal for the Sting - coming off the back of three straight shutouts. It would take a heroic effort if we were to light the lamp in this one.
The start of the game would come with immense pressure from the Sting side. A number of chances turned away by Laverick would keep the score at zeros early. A huge chance of our own would follow as a two-on-one with Kent and Dixon putting a nice play together but it would be met by a fantastic save from King to keep it at zeros for his team.
The ice would be broken on the powerplay by the Sting late in the first. A great shot from below the face-off circles would find it's way into the top corner, short side, and the Sting would lead by a goal to nil. The period would finish with it only being a difference of one thanks to some great goaltending.
Period two would see a much more even period. Both King and Laverick coming up huge for their sides. We would also kill a few penalties well in the second to keep the lead at one for the Sting. Period two would also end one-zip and the first goalless period in the season.
The first goalless period would be met by the second. The Sting would pile on the pressure once again in the third period and limited our offence to the minimal amount of shots. The puck would be trapped in the corner for the last thirty seconds of the period to not give us a chance to pull Laverick for the extra attacker and we would take our first loss of the season and Lewis King would grab his fourth shutout in a row for the Sting.
