The wait is over, and competitive hockey returns to the Skydome this weekend as Coventry NIHL Blaze open their 2026/27 NIHL2 North campaign against the Bradford Bulldogs.

Following a busy pre-season double-header against Peterborough Phantoms 2, the NIHL Blaze will be looking to turn their preparation into points as they begin their latest push at the top end of the division. Coventry finished third last season, and with a strong returning core alongside a number of new faces and emerging young players, there is plenty of optimism heading into the new campaign.

Standing in their way are a Bradford side who have already opened their league campaign with a 7-4 victory over Kingston Sharks, meaning the Bulldogs arrive in Coventry with three points already on the board.

The NIHL Blaze will be keen to start strongly on home ice, with the opening weekend providing the first real test of the squad's systems, chemistry and competitive edge. After weeks of preparation, there is now something at stake, and every point will count as Coventry look to establish themselves among the contenders once again.
