Coventry NIHL Blaze are delighted to confirm that forward Ryan James will return to the club for the 2026/27 season.
One of the longest-serving members of the Blaze roster, James will continue his impressive association with Coventry as he enters another campaign in Blaze colours.
The Solihull-born forward has been a key figure within the club since joining the Blaze setup in 2017, bringing experience, versatility and leadership to the lineup. Elite Prospects records James with 145 NIHL 2 appearances for Coventry, contributing 15 goals and 40 assists for 55 points during his time with the club.
James' wider hockey experience is even more extensive, with Elite Prospects recording 292 career appearances, 43 goals and 106 assists for 149 points across his career, underlining the experience he brings to the Blaze dressing room.
The 2025/26 campaign saw James continue to provide an important presence for Coventry, featuring in 16 regular-season games and recording two goals and six assists for eight points. His ability to contribute offensively while also providing energy and reliability in all areas of the game has made him a valuable part of the Blaze group.
Beyond his production, James has also played an important leadership role within the team. Having previously worn an alternate captain's 'A', he has been part of the senior core that has helped guide the Blaze through recent seasons and maintain a strong team culture.
His return adds further continuity to a Blaze roster built around a strong foundation of experienced players, alongside emerging talent looking to make their mark. With Coventry continuing to push towards challenging for silverware, James' experience and versatility will once again be an important asset.
Welcome back, Ryan!
