Coventry NIHL Blaze are delighted to confirm that defenceman Jack McKay will return to the club for the 2026/27 season.

McKay, 27, will continue his latest spell with the Blaze after returning to the club ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. His extension was confirmed on 4 July 2026.

However, McKay is certainly no stranger to the Blaze. His association with the club stretches back to 2015, with Elite Prospects recording five seasons of Blaze experience between 2015 and 2026. Across those spells, the right-shot defenceman has made 61 appearances, registering five goals and 10 assists for 15 points.

McKay's first spell with Coventry came during his teenage years, featuring for the Blaze during the 2015/16 season before returning to the club again in later years. He was also part of the Blaze setup during the 2016/17 and 2017/18 campaigns, making his return to the roster in 2025/26 another chapter in a long-standing relationship with the club.

His most recent return saw McKay make five appearances during the 2025/26 campaign, contributing one assist from the blue line.

At 5'11" and shooting right-handed, McKay provides another right-shot option on the Blaze blue line as the team continues to shape its defensive group for the upcoming campaign.

His experience also extends beyond his appearances for the Blaze, having previously featured within the Coventry Blaze junior pathway, including the U19 setup. Elite Prospects' records show McKay among the former Coventry Blaze U19 players who have gone on to represent the senior NIHL Blaze.

With another season now secured, McKay will be looking to build on his return to competitive action and play his part as the Blaze look to improve on their third-place finish in the 2025/26 NIHL 2 regular season.

Welcome back, Jack!
