30 August 2024 at 06:00:00
We are back tomorrow afternoon, at the Skydome, taking on the Invicta Mustangs of the NIHL2 South in Pre-Season game two-of-three. Faceoff is at an earlier time of five o'clock and another game where the tickets are locked at £5, should mean a healthy crowd to see the NIHL Blaze play their final game at home till late September.
The Mustangs played the same amount of league games as the Rising Stars in twenty-two, winning ten of those games and losing the other twelve, which included three overtime loses. They would end the season on twenty-three points, good enough for seventh place in the league. In the twenty-two games, they would score one hundred and four goals and concede eighty-nine.
They would go on to qualify for the playoffs, bowing out at the Quarter-Final stage. They would not advance to the playoffs of the cup, finishing third in their cup group, one place out of a semi-final spot.
Aaron Ferris and the Stedman brothers, Jake and Edward, would lead the team in scoring over the season with forty-four goals and fifty-three assists between them for a total of ninety-seven points. All three are back this season and are expected to ice on Saturday. Kieran Wyatt, who was their leading goaltender last season, is also back. He led the team with thirteen games played and a stat line of 3.47 GAA and a 89.2% save percentage.
This will be Invicta's first pre-season game, whilst we iced against the Stars last week, coming out seven to four winners, thanks to a four goal third period.
Prospect, Jake Storer, is set to make his senior debut along with Dixon and Mellett returning to the line-up for their first games of the season. Arthur Brookes wears the C as captain Daniel Kent is unavailable for this weekends game.
