Coventry NIHL Blaze are delighted to confirm that forward Tom Brooke-Smith will return to the club for the 2026/27 season.
The Chesterfield-born centre will continue his time in Blaze colours after agreeing a contract extension on 18 July 2026, securing the return of one of Coventry’s reliable two-way forwards for the upcoming campaign.
Brooke-Smith has become a consistent presence within the Blaze lineup since joining the club, bringing energy, versatility and experience to the forward group. The 28-year-old right-handed centre has featured heavily for Coventry over recent seasons, with Elite Prospects recording 102 Blaze appearances, 21 goals and 35 assists for 56 points across his time with the club.
The 2025/26 season saw Brooke-Smith continue to play an important role for the Blaze, appearing in 14 NIHL 2 regular-season games and contributing two goals and six assists for eight points. He also added further experience in cup competition, recording an assist during the campaign.
A versatile forward capable of playing in different situations, Brooke-Smith provides valuable depth and reliability within the Blaze lineup. His ability to contribute offensively while also taking on important responsibilities away from the puck makes him a valuable member of the team.
Having previously featured alongside many of the current Blaze core, Brooke-Smith has become part of a group that has helped establish Coventry as a consistent contender in NIHL 2. His return adds further continuity to a roster combining experienced leaders with developing talent.
Brooke-Smith joins a growing list of returning players committed to the 2026/27 campaign as the Blaze look to build on a 2025/26 season which saw Coventry finish third in NIHL 2 and continue their push towards silverware.
Welcome back, Tom!
