Coventry NIHL Blaze are delighted to confirm that Jodie Alderson-Smith will join the team on a full-time basis for the 2026/27 season.

After balancing commitments between the Blaze and the WNIHL during the 2025/26 campaign, Jodie will now focus solely on her role with Coventry NIHL Blaze, giving her the opportunity to continue her development and contribute further within the team environment.

Alderson-Smith is no stranger to the Blaze setup, having been a key member of the organisation for several seasons. The Nottingham-born forward has built an impressive hockey career across both the men's and women's game, bringing a wealth of experience, leadership and versatility to the roster.

Jodie is one of the most experienced players in the Blaze organisation, with 518 career appearances, 433 goals and 358 assists for 791 points across her hockey career.

During the 2025/26 NIHL 2 campaign, Jodie continued to demonstrate her ability to compete at senior level, recording 7 points in 11 league appearances, including three goals and four assists.

Her performances have also seen her recognised on the international stage. Alderson-Smith has represented Great Britain Women, including taking on a leadership role as captain, while also continuing to contribute at club level.

Jodie’s decision to join the Blaze full-time represents an exciting opportunity for both player and team. Having previously managed commitments across two senior teams, she can now fully integrate into the Blaze programme and continue building chemistry within the group.

Her versatility as a forward/defenceman, experience in high-pressure environments and leadership qualities make her a valuable addition to the Blaze roster heading into the 2026/27 season. Elite Prospects lists her as capable of playing both forward and defence, highlighting the flexibility she provides.

With Coventry looking to build on another strong NIHL 2 campaign and push towards silverware, Alderson-Smith’s full-time commitment provides another important piece of the puzzle.
