Gavigan is now in his fourth season with the NIHL Blaze after joining in 2022. Gavigan joined from Sheffield where he was the captain in the Sheffield Titans, and his, first season in NIHL2. He led them to the playoff semi-final where they ultimately fell to the Telford Tigers.

Since joining the NIHL Blaze, Gavigan has scored over fifty points and has led all defenseman on the team, in scoring, over that period of time. Gavigan has also picked up a number of club awards during his tenure: Defenseman of the Year, Player of the Year, Unsung Hero and Players Player of the Year x2.

Head Coach Sean Alderson has this to say about the #95... 'Joel has been part of our top defensive pairing and a key member of our special teams in each of the past three seasons he has been with us so I am delighted he has agreed to return for another season.'
